How he did not get an Oscar nomination remains one of the bigger misfires from the Academy. Absolutely well worth watching to get a small insight into Andy Kaufman as well as arguably Carrey's finest role. A need to shock? Always wanting to stay one step ahead of his audience? Wanting to be different? A combination of all and more? It's never really clear but in fairness it was never really clear when he was alive. Most of the real events are faithfully recreated but the one minor downside is you don't really understand what motivated Kaufman in his comedy.
